Paved trail offering stunning ocean and lighthouse views
Makapu’u Lighthouse Trail is a paved coastal path that leads to incredible views of Oahu’s southeastern shoreline. The hike ends at a lookout above the historic red-roofed lighthouse. On clear days, you can see all the way to Molokai, and in winter months, spot humpback whales offshore.

Getting there from the homes
Makapuu Lighthouse Trail is 45-55 minutes from our homes in Ka'a'awa. Most of the drive is on Kamehameha Highway along the windward coast, so leave a little extra time on weekends and in the late afternoon, when traffic through Kaneohe builds. Check the hours above before you set out; they change seasonally.
