The Lanikai Pillbox Trail climbs along Ka’iwa Ridge to two historic World War II bunkers overlooking Kailua and the turquoise waters of Lanikai Beach. It’s a moderate hike that rewards you with sweeping coastal views. Mornings and late afternoons are the best times for cooler weather and fewer crowds.

Getting there from the homes
Laniakea Pillbox Hike is 45-55 minutes from our homes in Ka'a'awa. Most of the drive is on Kamehameha Highway along the windward coast, so leave a little extra time on weekends and in the late afternoon, when traffic through Kaneohe builds.
